What are the most common real-world installation mistakes that reduce the thermal performance of passive house doors, and how can they be effectively avoided on site?
Common mistakes:
* installing the door in the wrong place in the wall (not within the insulation layer)
* leaving gaps around the frame
* using only foam filling without proper sealing
* lack of insulation under the threshold

From what I know, one of the most common problems is poor finishing work around the door after the installation itself 🙂 Even good passive doors can later let cold air in if there are gaps or badly sealed areas around the threshold and frame.
Some people also say that a mistake is not planning the floor height and insulation around the entrance early enough. Later on, different issues with thresholds start appearing and thermal bridges can form.
Hi everyone, i would add one more thing – quite often the problem is not the door itself, but the fact that nobody checks carefully after installation whether everything is working as it should. Sometimes the door is slightly misaligned, the seals do not press evenly, or the fittings need a small adjustment. At first, it may not even be noticeable, but over time it can affect comfort and increase heat loss.That is why it is worth spending a little time after installation to check the alignment of the door leaf, the closing mechanism, and the pressure of the seals. It is much better to fix these small details right away than to look for the causes of drafts and heat loss around the entrance later.
