Does anyone regret getting into smart home systems?

Honestly, a little bit 😅 I still like some parts of it, especially the smart thermostat and being able to control heating from my phone, but after a while some things started to feel unnecessary.

A few devices randomly disconnect, apps need updates, and sometimes simple things become more complicated than they should be. Smart lighting is cool at first, but after some time I mostly just use it like normal lights anyway.

For me the best approach would probably be keeping it simple — smart heating and maybe a few useful devices instead of trying to automate the whole house.

The biggest downside is probably the dependence on the system and updates—when something breaks, the manual way of doing things comes back faster than I’d like. But overall, the idea is great, I just recommend keeping it simple and not making everything “smart” just because it can be.

At first, the idea of a smart home seemed great, and I was excited about the possibility of automating almost everything. Some solutions turned out to be very useful – especially smart heating, which allows better control over energy consumption, as well as a few automations related to lighting and security.On the other hand, over time I noticed that many features that initially seemed essential were not actually used that often in practice. In addition, typical issues started to appear, such as updates, occasional connection drops, or the need to manage several different apps. Nothing serious, but sometimes a regular switch simply works faster.
