I considered installing a greywater recycling system, but after looking at the costs I decided against it. In a typical family home, the savings on water bills just weren’t significant enough to justify the additional installation costs and ongoing maintenance.
That said, I think it makes much more sense if you’re building a new home or already carrying out a major renovation where the plumbing is being replaced. Otherwise, the payback period can be quite a long one.
