I had MVHR installed in a home that was being renovated in stages, and honestly – the biggest surprise wasn’t the heating bills, but the “stability” of the indoor air. Those typical issues disappeared: humidity in the bathroom lingering for hours, cooking smells spreading through the whole house, or that “stuffy” air in the bedrooms in the morning.As for heating costs, I didn’t notice anything dramatic – rather a slight reduction in heat loss, but it’s not something that pays for itself quickly on its own. In an older, less airtight home, the effects are simply less financial and more about day-to-day comfort.Regarding noise – proper duct routing and correct airflow balancing are key. With a well-installed system, you don’t hear anything in living rooms or bedrooms, but poorly balanced vents can create a faint hum that may be noticeable at night.
Overall: it’s worth it, but more as an investment in everyday comfort and moisture control rather than a way to achieve significant energy savings.
