I don’t have 5+ years of experience myself, but from what I’ve read and heard from other solar panel owners, regular cleaning shouldn’t really cause any issues as long as it’s done gently. I’d be more concerned about scrubbing dirt with a hard brush than about the cleaning frequency itself.
If you live in an area that gets plenty of rain, the panels usually do a pretty good job of cleaning themselves. In that case, cleaning them every few months may not make much difference in terms of performance.
I’m curious to hear from people who have had their systems for 5–10 years as well, since I’d be interested in learning from their experiences.
