Hi,We switched from a traditional septic tank to a home sewage treatment system about 2 years ago and honestly it’s been much better overall.
The upfront cost was higher, but maintenance has been easier — less emptying, no bad smells in summer, and fewer issues after heavy rain. It does use some electricity, but still works out cheaper than frequent septic tank pumping.
The main thing is to get a good installer. A friend went with the cheapest option and had constant problems afterwards.
Overall, if you’re planning to stay in the house long term, I’d say it’s worth it.
