In my opinion, both replies make some valid points. Liquid screed does work better with underfloor heating and gives more even heat distribution, but I also feel like some companies exaggerate how huge the difference really is.
In practice, the quality of the installation matters much more than the material itself. I’ve seen well-done traditional sand and cement screeds work perfectly for years, and I’ve also seen liquid screeds poorly installed by bad contractors.
If you’re building a modern house with a heat pump and have a good installer, then liquid screed probably makes sense. But traditional sand and cement is still a very solid option if it’s done properly.
